This is the reason I havn't posted the last few days. I had to strip off 15 year old varnish with a heat gun and sharp hook scraper. In order not to the burn the wood when heating up the varnish in the beveled areas, I had to use a low heat setting and a nozzle at the end of the heat gun which concentrated the flow of hot air to a small, round opening. Tediously done, the stripping process took 13 hours, and that doesn't include sanding and chemical cleaning time in order to prepare for new varnish. Moral of this story: When you see a nicely varnished finish on a boat, or in this case, yacht, you can be sure the owner spent big bucks. Posted by Hello
