Ready For Varnish

This is a boat named "Kanga," a Shelter Island 38' Runabout. Built by Coecles Harbor Marine on Shelter Island, New York, it was designed by Rock and Roll Legend Billy Joel with the help of navel architect Doug Zurn. I have the good fortune of refinishing all of the varnished brightwork. My son was nice enough to help me out one day during his school vacation, seen here prepping the cockpit caprails for a fresh coat of marine varnish. The varnish on this particular boat is a Dutch varnish called, "Epifanes," a high quality yacht finish. For more information on this boat, you can check out www.therunabout.com
