The Cycle of Life

Today I'm very sad to announce that our little Jammin will be put to sleep tomorrow morning. He has been suffering from bad arthritis in his hind legs for years, as well as enduring episodes of Lyme's Disease, a nasty disease carried by ticks here in the northeast. It has been a very difficult decision for both me and my wife. I have taken the last three weeks off from work to be with him in his final weeks, and it has been a huge strain on him and us. I'm not really sure if I can justify euthanasia, except to say that Jammin's quality of life has taken a turn for the worst and his suffering is making him extremely anxious and unhappy. Jammin is 14 years old, we adopted him from a shelter when he was 4, and he's been a member of our family ever since. He has been a loyal and loving dog, with an unmatched will to live and fight until the end. Our hearts are heavy, and he will be sorely missed. Goodbye, Jammin, we love you and will see you in Heaven. God, please Bless Jammin and watch over him in your kingdom. Please help us to endure our loss, and please help those in similar circumstances as our own. Amen.  Posted by Picasa
